Kanyashram Bridge Submerged As Heavy Rainfall Paralyzes Malkangiri

Malkangiri: The relentless heavy rainfall has made life miserable for residents of Malkangiri, with the Kanyashram bridge getting submerged under 2 feet of water. This has resulted in a complete breakdown of communication between the Kalimela and Padia blocks.

According to reports, the bridge, a vital link between the two blocks and to Chhattisgarh, has been rendered impassable, leaving vehicles stranded on both sides since Friday morning.

The bridge’s submersion has not only disrupted vehicular traffic but also affected farmers who were heading to their fields. Some farmers from Maranpali village, carrying bags of paddy seeds, were forced to halt near the bridge.

To prevent any untoward incidents, police personnel have been deployed near the bridge to monitor the situation and ensure that no one attempts to cross the swollen waters recklessly.
