Bhubaneswar: A government school teacher from Khordha district has given the gift of life to three persons even after his death.
According to reports, Pratap Kumar Rout (47), a senior teacher of Kumarabasta High School in Khordha district and a resident of Dhansar village under Banki sub-division, passed away due to a brain stroke on Teachers’ Day. However, by donating his liver and both eyes, he has become an inspiration for many.
Rout returned home from school and suddenly suffered a brain stroke on Teachers’ Day. His family first took him to Banki and later shifted him to AIIMS. As his condition worsened, he was admitted to a private hospital, where he was treated for three days before he breathed his last.
Despite the tragic and sudden Rout’s death, his family members’ decision to donate his organs has earned widespread appreciation. His liver and two eyes were successfully donated, giving a new lease of life to three patients. Locals and social workers have hailed his act as a noble example of selflessness.
Rout is survived by his wife and two sons. His last rites will be performed in his ancestral village.
The entire Kumarabasta High School community is mourning the loss of a teacher who was deeply loved by his students. A Guard of Honour will be given to the departed soul at the private hospital in recognition of his organ donation.
