Kendrapara: A 23-year-old youth of Manpur village under Aul police limits in Kendrapara district allegedly hanged himself at his home on Monday after incurring a loss playing online games.
According to reports, the deceased youth identified as Ashish Das committed suicide by hanging in the afternoon on Monday when he was alone in the house.
In a suicide note addressed to his mother, Ashish mentioned that he was taking the extreme step as he has lost around Rs 10,000 playing online games.
Ashish was the only son of his parents and was staying with his mother, sister and grandmother in their village for the last two years after completing his graduation and was addicted to playing online games on his mobile phone. His father was working abroad.
On being informed Aul police are investigating the matter.
In a separate incident, a youth identified as Debendra Parida if Bhuasuni village under Balikuda police limits of Jagatsinghpur district allegedly committed suicide on Monday after losing more than Rs 2 lakh while playing online games.
