Keonjhar: The Keonjhar district administration today announced to develop the Bada Danda (grand corridor) of Sri Sri Baldevjew Temple.
The development of the Bada Danda aims at achieving an improved aesthetic environment, organized spaces, safety & hygiene and contextual rejuvenation.
The development works include decorative floral paint of Bada Danda; depiction of various veshas (attire) of Sri Sri Baldevjew; creation of traditional artforms along the Bada Danda; construction of pedestrian pathways and covered drains; organized vending arrangements; peripheral development of Mausima Temple, water body and open areas.
“Today is an auspicious and historic day. Work for the transformation of Bada Danda of Sri Sri Baldevjew Temple was started today. The Bada Danda will be given a new look. In addition to that Bada Danda and the area near Mausima Temple will be renovated,” informed Keonjhar Collector Ashish Thakare.
Thakre further informed that work on the Bhog Mandap for which fund was provided by the Chief Minister from the Special Development Fund is almost at completion stage.
It will be completed along with a Bhajan Mandap within a month, he added.
“We are hopeful that this year we will be pulling the chariot of Sri Sri Baldevjew on the Bada Danda with a new look. We expect to observe Rath Yatra with a new look this year,” said Thakare.
It is a moment of joy for us that Keonjhar Rath has found a mention in the Guiness Book of World Records as the world’s tallest wooden chariot, he added.
The Collector appreciated the cooperation received from Sri Sri Baldevjew Temple administration, citizens living around Bada Danda and government officials for smooth coordination of work till date and requested for the same in the future.
The district administration felicitated and expressed its gratitude towards Bhuyan Pidha Sardar for their contribution and dedication to Sri Sri Baldevjew Temple and the smooth conduct of the Rath Yatra.
Sardar also appreciated the efforts of the district administration for the holistic planning of Sri Sri Baldevjew Temple and Bada Danda and thanked the State government for the initiative.
