Bhubaneswar: In a tragic update, the body of doctor Bishnu Prasad Chinra, one of the two Odia doctors who went missing in the devastating landslides at Wayanad in Kerala, has been recovered.
State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari confirmed the news.
Meanwhile, the Odisha government has sent a team led by Dilip Routray for the identification of the body. The body will be brought to Odisha after being verified, said sources.
As per the report, Chinra, a resident of Choudwar, was vacationing with his wife Priyadharini Pal and friend Dr Swadhin Panda and his wife Swikruti Mohapatra when the devastating landslide occurred on Monday night. All of them had left Bengaluru for an outing on July 26. From there, they went to Kerala’s Wayanad. They were staying in Linara Villa. Unfortunately, landslides occurred in Meppadi, Mundakkai Town and Chooral Mala hill areas on Monday night. After the landslide, mud water flooded various populated areas in the locality.
It is learnt that Priyadarsini and Swikruti were rescued after the landslide and are now undergoing treatment. However, doctor Swadhin Panda is yet to be traced out.
