Bhubaneswar: Leeza Majhi, a talented student from Uchkapat village in Sambalpur’s Bamra Block, has made her family and community proud by clearing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025. She has secured admission to the MBBS program at Government Medical College & Hospital in Sundargarh.
Leeza’s journey to success began at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Bamra-IV, a residential school that provided her with a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to grow academically. She joined KGBV in 2021 and later completed her matriculation from Odisha Adarsh Vidyalay (OAV), Bamra, with an impressive 82% score.
Leeza’s hard work paid off when she qualified for +2 Science at OAV (Iconic) Bhubaneswar, where she scored 81.6%. Her perseverance and dedication ultimately led her to clear NEET 2025, fulfilling her dream of becoming a doctor.
Expressing gratitude to KGBV for its role in shaping her academic path, Leeza said, “KGBV provided me with free residential education, mentoring, and holistic support that helped me achieve my goals.”
KGBVs are special residential schools established by the Government of India to provide quality education to underprivileged and out-of-school adolescent girls from disadvantaged communities. Odisha has been at the forefront of this mission, and Leeza’s success story is a testament to the transformative impact of KGBVs.
School authorities hailed Leeza’s achievement, saying, “Her success is not just an individual triumph, but a symbol of hope for countless girls across rural Odisha. Her journey from KGBV to medical college shows that education is the most powerful tool of empowerment.” Leeza’s achievement is expected to inspire many more girls from marginalized communities to pursue their ambitions and dream big.
