Balasore: In a major breakthrough, Khaira police in Odisha’s Balasore district arrested three interstate robbers on Friday in connection with a violent robbery that took place on May 7 in Dalang village.
The incident involved a brutal assault on local resident Kranti Kumar Das, whose house was ransacked by armed assailants. Acting swiftly on a written complaint filed by Das, Khaira Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Shachindra Kumar Mahalik launched an intensive investigation with a dedicated team.
By leveraging CCTV footage and mobile tracking technology, the police successfully identified and apprehended three suspects from the villages of Dogarpada, Tentuliapada, and Kurunia.
During the arrest, police recovered a pistol, a telenga katuri (traditional sharp weapon), and a cache of stolen gold and silver ornaments, directly linking the accused to the crime.
The three were produced before a local court on Friday.
Speaking at a press briefing at Khaira police station, Nilagiri Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pramod Mallick and IIC Mahalik praised the swift action of the police team and reiterated their commitment to curbing criminal activities in the region. The arrests have brought a sense of relief to the local community, which had been deeply shaken by the brazen attack.
