Balasore: Passengers of a private bus going from Odisha to West Bengal had a close shave when the vehicle was hit by a 16-wheeler truck from the rear and it overturned near Nayan Jodi under Jaleswar police limits on National Highway No 60 in Odisha’s Balasore district on late Thursday night. Over 30 passengers of the bus sustained minor injuries and have been admitted to the GK Bhatt Community Health Centre.
According to reports, a passenger bus with fewer than 40 passengers was speeding towards Kolkata when the driver slowed down the vehicle at a speed-breaker when a 16-wheeler truck coming from behind rammed into the bus. As the driver of the bus lost control over the wheel, the vehicle overturned on the National Highway 60 near Jaleswar police station Shantia Bypass in Balasore district.
On being informed, police reached the accident site and seized both vehicles. They have launched an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the mishap.
