Koraput: In a move to maintain the solemnity of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, Koraput Collector and District Magistrate Manoj Satyawan Mahajan has issued an order prohibiting the sale of meat, chicken, fish, eggs, and other non-vegetarian items on January 26, 2026.
All Tahsildars, Block Development Officers, and Executive Officers in the district have been directed to issue local notifications to ensure strict compliance with the order.
“With reference to the subject cited above, you are hereby requested to issue an official notification in your jurisdiction prohibiting the sale of meat, chicken, fish, eggs, and other non-vegetarian items on January 26, 2026, on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day celebration in Koraput District,” read the directive.
The administration has appealed to shopkeepers and citizens to follow the instructions diligently to uphold the dignity and decorum of the national celebrations.
The Collectorate emphasised prompt action and cooperation from all stakeholders.
