Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has unearthed movable and immovable assets worth crores during simultaneous searches at seven locations linked to Satyanarayan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer, Kotpada Block, Koraput.
The raids, conducted on June 19, 2026, on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income, led to the recovery of two flats including one benami flat, two farm houses spanning 14 acres, 49 valuable plots including 17 benami plots, gold weighing around 940 grams, silver weighing around 2.5 kg, cash of Rs 5.48 lakh, bank deposits over Rs 60.92 lakh, one benami Tata Harrier car, a benami two-wheeler, and household articles worth around Rs 5.52 lakh.
According to Vigilance, the properties include a 2-BHK flat of approximately 1000 sqft at Hi-tech Plaza, Madhipur Mauza, Jatani in Khordha, and a 2-BHK benami flat at Golden Height Residence apartment in Jeypore, Koraput, purchased in the name of a close associate. The two farm houses, located at Mouza-Taragaon under Boriguma Tahasil in Koraput, are spread over 10.03 acres with mango and eucalyptus plantations and 4.35 acres with nilgiri plantation.
The 49 plots are spread across Jeypore, Boriguma, Kotpad, and Patangi Tahasils in Koraput district. Of these, 17 are benami plots purchased in the name of a relative. The measurement and valuation of the flats, plots, and farm houses are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing.
The searches were carried out at Sethy’s residential flat in Jatani, rented house at Parabeda in Jeypore, two farm houses in Taragaon, parental house at Jahangar in Kendrapada, government quarter at Kotpad, and his office chamber at Kotpad. Seven teams of Odisha Vigilance led by seven DSPs, nine Inspectors, 11 ASIs, and other supporting staff conducted the operation on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.
Satyanarayan Sethy joined government service on January 22, 1998, as a Junior Engineer at the Office of the Chief Engineer, Upper Kolab Division, Ambaguda, Koraput, with an initial salary of Rs 7,100. He was promoted to Assistant Engineer in 2015 and to Assistant Executive Engineer on September 3, 2025, and was posted at Kotpada Block.
Vigilance officials said Sethy is being examined to ascertain the source of the assets. Further searches are continuing and unearthing of more assets is likely, with the overall valuation expected to increase.
