Jeypore: In a heartwarming story, a man surprised his son with a brand new Vespa scooter on his birthday. The unique part of the gift is that it was bought from savings of Rs 10 notes gathered over seven years.

Bhaskar Panda, a grocery shopkeeper of Jalaput in Koraput district had dreamt of gifting his son Arun Kumar Panda, which transalated into reality today.

Bhaskar had been collecting old Rs 10 notes and storing them in boxes. The total amount saved was Rs 1.53 lakh, which was used to buy the scooter today. Bhaskar had earlier gifted his daughter a Jupiter scooter in 2017 by saving Rs 5 notes daily in similar way.

Bhaskar said that he had a good will to gift his son a scooter. So, he had been saving old Rs 10 old notes for the last seven years. Now, they counted the notes and it became Rs 1.53 lakh. So, he decided to buy a scooter for his son as a gift on his birthday, Bhaskar added.

Arun Kumar Panda expressed his gratitude, saying, “My father started saving Rs 10 daily, and I cooperated with him. It took seven years, but it’s worth it. I’m thrilled and thankful to my father.”

Bhaskar plans to continue saving, this time Rs 20 notes daily, for another gift. The family’s dedication and discipline have made their savings goal a reality, bringing joy to their lives.
