Jeypore: In a dramatic turn of events, police have cracked the murder case of 21-year-old Sabitri Khara, whose body was found near Handal Tota under Nandapur police station area in Koraput on November 4.
The prime accused is none other than her husband, Mahendra Khara, who conspired with his relatives to kill her due to a prolonged marital dispute.
The incident unfolded when Mahendra and Sabitri visited an Aadhaar center in Nandapur. On their return, Mahendra allegedly called his friends, Mahesh Mali and Somanth Mali, who assaulted Sabitri with wooden planks and strangled her to death. To mislead investigators, Mahendra staged his own abduction, getting tied to a Nilagiri tree.
During the investigation, police analysed Mahendra’s mobile call detail records (CDRs), which revealed suspicious calls to his accomplices around the time of the murder. Under interrogation, Mahendra confessed to the crime, exposing his carefully crafted plan.
Mahendra, Mahesh Mali, and Somanth Mali are currently in custody at Nandapur Police Station, facing charges for Sabitri’s brutal murder.
