Bhubaneswar: Koraput experienced its coldest December night this year on December 26, 2025, with a temperature of 4.8°C.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Koraput’s December nights have been quite chilly over the past 15 years. In 2011, the temperature dropped to 9°C on December 27, while in 2012, it was 9.2°C on December 28. The following year, 2013, saw a low of 8.1°C on December 16.
The trend continued with 2014 recording 6.4°C on December 22, and 2015 hitting 7.5°C on December 26. In 2016, the temperature was 8.4°C on December 20, and 2017 saw 7.9°C on December 31. The coldest night was in 2018, with a temperature of 4.8°C on December 30.
In 2019, the low was 9.2°C on December 22, followed by 6.6°C on December 22, 2020. The temperature dropped to 7°C on December 22, 2021, and 7.8°C on December 8, 2022. In 2023, it was 6.5°C on December 25, and 9.6°C on December 16, 2024. This year, 2025, has seen a low of 4.8°C on December 26, matching the record set in 2018.
