Bhubaneswar: There are currently 16,41,748 Lakhpati Didis in the state, with no specific income criteria of Rs 10,000 per month for beneficiaries, informed Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida in Odisha Assembly.

Deputy Chief Minister’s reply came in response to a query raised by Bhograi MLA Gautam Buddha Das, seeking information on the number of Lakhpati Didis and whether beneficiaries’ ration cards are being cancelled due to their income exceeding Rs 10,000 per month.

Replying to the query, Deputy Chief Minister made it clear that there is no general rule issued by the Department of Mission Shakti to cancel the ration cards of beneficiaries who have earned Lakhpati Didi status in rural areas and have a monthly income exceeding Rs 10,000.

Regarding women who have become Lakhpati Didis through goat breeding, Parida replied that data is not available as there is no specific code to track income earned from goat breeding under LokOS, a software used for data collection.
