Balasore: Unidentified miscreants looted lakhs of rupees from a Punjab National Bank and an Axis Bank ATM at Marsalpur and Khaira Turigodia Bazar under Soro police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday night by cutting it open with gas cutters.

In another ATM robbery case, the six miscreants looted over Rs 20 lakh from an Axis Bank ATM in Khair Togadia Bazar in Balasore district.

After the robbery, the miscreants set off two bombs in the Tudigdia Bazar area.

While the amount stolen from the ATMs is yet to be ascertained, people in the region are concerned over frequent crimes in the region between Soro and Badapokhari. They have repeatedly urged the police and district authorities to open a police outpost and increase patrolling in the region.

On being informed, Soro police reached the spots and launched an investigation into the theft.
