Baripada: Vehicular movement came to a standstill on National Highway No. 49 following a landslide at Dwarasuni Ghat in Bangiriposi, Mayurbhanj district, on Saturday.
A mass of rock and earth, spanning 20 feet, slid onto the ghat road, leading to the suspension of traffic for some time until the debris was cleared.
Vehicular movement has now resumed on the highway after the road was cleared of debris. Locals believe that incessant heavy rainfall, combined with regular blasting for road widening, could be the cause of the landslide.
