Bhubaneswar: The second phase of the 16th Odisha Assembly Budget Session is set to begin today, with opposition parties BJD and Congress gearing up to grill the government on women’s safety, law and order, paddy procurement, and unemployment.
The first phase was marked by intense debates on farmers’ issues, and the upcoming session is expected to be equally charged, especially with the Rajya Sabha elections looming.
Both BJD and Congress have finalized their strategies, with MLAs from both parties vowing to raise their concerns. The opposition’s attack is likely to intensify, given their joint support for Rajya Sabha candidate Dr Datteswar Hota.
As per reports, the session will see the presentation of various committee reports, followed by discussions on budget demands from Tuesday. The government is expected to face criticism, making the session a crucial test for the ruling party.
