Balasore: A 60-year-old Pakistani woman, Rezia Sultana, and her family are in a state of distress after receiving a notice from the police to leave the country after the Central government scrapped the long-term VISA following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Rezia, a resident of Pathan Mahal in Soro, Balasore, claims she has never been to Pakistan and has lived in India her entire life.
Rezia’s family possesses Indian documents, including a PAN card, Aadhaar card, voter ID, and old-age pension card. However, she doesn’t have any Pakistani documents or visa. The family is shocked and questioning the administration about the notice.
Rezia, who is suffering from various health issues, expressed her concerns, stating that she doesn’t know where she would stay in Pakistan. Her family has decided not to leave India, saying, “We were born here, we will die here.” They have appealed to the Indian government to reconsider the decision and withdraw the notice.
According to Rezia’s family history, her father Haider was born in Kolkata and later became a Pakistani citizen after fleeing to Bangladesh and then Pakistan. However, Rezia returned to India with her father and has lived here since then. She married a local man and has five children, all of whom are married. The family is worried about their future and is seeking relief from the government.
