Nuapada: Hours after a leopard was found feasting on the body of a woman in the forest 100 meters away from Siliharibahara village under Dharamabandha police outpost limits in Nuapada district, an eight-year-old boy was attacked by a leopard in Kodopalli village under the same police limits in the district.
The boy has been seriously injured in the attack.
According to reports, the eight-year-old son of Nilakantha Bariha was attacked by the big cat while he was playing in front of his house in Kodopalli village which is hardly a kilometre away from Siliharibahara village. The child has been injured in one of his ears.
Kodopalli is located very close to Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary and comes within the buffer zone of the sanctuary.
Since these villages comes under the buffer zone of the sanctuary wild animals often stray into these villages in search of food, said Khariar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sushil Kumar Tripathy.
