Bhubaneswar: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are expected to bring some relief in several Odisha districts on Monday amid the soaring mercury.
According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) several districts in the state, including Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Angul districts, are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall during the next 24 hours under the influence of western disturbances.
Similarly, light to moderate rain is expected in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur on Tuesday. However, the weather will remain dry in coastal and interior Odisha.
Meanwhile, the mercury has been soaring several degrees above normal in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Ganjam districts in south Odisha while hot conditions have been observed in Khurda, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts in coastal Odisha.
Malkangari was the hottest city on Sunday recording 37°C, while 13 locations in the state recorded maximum temperatures of 35°C or above.
