Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman and her daughter-in-law were killed by a lightning strike in Mudulipalli village under Bhanjanagar Tehsil in Ganjam district last night.
The deceased have been identified as Saila Bisoi (65) and her daughter-in-law Santosini Bisoi (35).
According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when a sudden storm accompanied by heavy rain hit the area. While returning home after finishing work in the paddy fields, the two women took shelter under a bamboo bush. At that moment, lightning struck them, killing both on the spot.
On receiving information, Bhanjanagar police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies, and shifted them to Bhanjanagar Hospital for post-mortem.
