Lightning Strike Kills Two Women in Rayagada

Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred in Gudari of Rayagada district, where two women lost their lives due to a lightning strike. According to reports, around 40 people from Miladhepsahi area had gathered for a feast in a nearby forest on Monday.

As they were returning home, a sudden heavy rain and lightning struck at Batiabil near Gudari.

Sonali Goud (24) and Rupali Goud (21) were among those affected, with Kajal Goud (20) also sustaining injuries. The injured were rushed to the Gudari Community Health Centre for immediate treatment and later shifted to the Gunupur Sub-divisional Hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, Sonali and Rupali succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Kajal Goud, who received minor injuries, has been referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for further treatment. The incident has sent shockwaves in the Gudari area.

The Gudari police are currently investigating the incident.
