Bhubaneswar: Locals blocked a major road after a couple was killed in a road accident involving a private bus and a scooter near a Kali Temple at Lanjia village under Digapahandi police station in Ganjam district on Monday.
According to reports, the couple was travelling on a scooter when a private bus allegedly rammed into their vehicle head-on near the temple. The impact threw both riders onto the road, leaving them critically injured. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Following the incident, angry residents staged a road blockade demanding immediate action against the bus driver. The protest led to long traffic snarls as vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot, pacified the protesters and cleared the blockade.
