Bhubaneswar: Tension gripped Mahitala Chhak in Angul district on Saturday after locals blocked the road following the death of two young men in a tragic accident involving a coal-laden truck. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Industrial Police Station (Nisha).
According to reports, the two victims were riding a bike when a speeding coal-laden truck rammed into them from behind, crushing them under its wheels. One of the youths died on the spot, while the other was rushed to Angul District Headquarters Hospital by locals but was declared dead upon arrival.
The accident sparked outrage among residents, who gathered at the site, blocked the road, and demanded compensation for the families of the deceased. Locals also expressed concern over the increasing number of road accidents in the area, urging authorities to take preventive measures.
Police reached the scene shortly after the incident, seized the truck, and launched an investigation.
