Locals Gherao Police Station Over Child’s Death In Road Accident In Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Tension ran high at Dharuadihi Police Station as angry locals staged a protest and gheraoed the station following the death of a 2.5-year-old girl in a road accident.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred on Friday evening on the Dharuadihi main road when a car hit the toddler and her mother. The child died on the spot, while her mother sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Enraged over the incident, local residents mobbed the Dharuadihi Police Station demanding immediate arrest of the car driver, adequate compensation to the family, and proper medical care for the injured mother.

They also demanded that the government take responsibility for the livelihood and support of the child’s parents.

Following the accident, the police seized the car and detained the vehicle owner for questioning.

Till the last report came in, talks between the protesting locals and police officials are currently underway to resolve the situation.

The body of the deceased child has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation into the case is in progress.
