Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) the cyclonic circulation over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood now lies over Central parts of Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Bay of Bengal extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area (LoPAR) is likely to form over Northwest & adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal (BoB) during next 24 hours. Subsequently, it is likely to become more marked and move westnorthwestwards across south Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coast.
The east-west trough now runs from cyclonic circulation over Southwest Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood to cyclonic circulation over Central parts of Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Bay of Bengal across southeast Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, North Odisha and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
Another trough runs from cyclonic circulation over Central parts of Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Bay of Bengal to north coastal Andhra Pradesh between 4.5 & 7.6 km above mean sea level.
The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Shivpuri, Ranchi, Digha and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
According to the IMD’s midday weather bulletin of today light to moderate rain / thundershower has occurred at most places over the districts of south interior Odisha and at many places over the rest districts of Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Jharsuguda and Rayagada and extremely heavy rainfall at one place over the district of Koraput.
Under the impact of the developing weather system, the IMD has forecast scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha over the next four days:

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.
Red Warning (Take Action): Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) with isolated extremely heavy (>20cm) over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Kandhamal.
Impact & Action Suggested: i) Flash flood/Water logging in low lying areas, inundation of agriculture field, Mudslides/landslides in vulnerable hilly areas. ii) Possibility of some damage to informal/Kutcha road, wall collapse of vulnerable kutcha houses. iii) Water logging in underpass road and occasional reduction of visibility causing traffic congestion in urban areas. iv) It may lead to significant rise in water level of rivers. v) Keep arrangement for drainage of excess water. vi) Avoid movement in affected areas, stay in safe place. vii) Postpone fertilizer/chemicals application in agricultural field, keep livestock in safe place.
