Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts.
The system is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low-pressure system is predicted to cross the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts around the forenoon of August 19.
The IMD has forecasted strong surface winds, thunderstorms, and lightning over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha from August 18.
