Low-Pressure Area Forms Over Bay of Bengal, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A fresh low-pressure area has formed over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall across Odisha until September 9.

“Under the influence of cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area has formed over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts. It is likely to move slowly northwards during the next two day,” the IMD said.

A yellow warning has been issued for the following districts, expecting heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur.
