Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area, which formed at 5:30 am today over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-North Odisha coasts, is likely to become more marked and move west-northwestwards across North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 48 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department.
According to the Meteorological Centre, the low pressure area formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-North Odisha coasts at 5:30 am on Saturday under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts. The system was persisting over the same region at 8:30 am.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
Residents of northern Odisha districts have been advised to remain alert and follow the latest weather updates.
