Low Pressure Area Over Bay Of Bengal; Heavy Rains Likely In Several Odisha Dists Today

Bhubaneswar: Wednesday’s cyclone spread to a height of 7.6 km above sea level in the northwest Bay of Bengal region on Thursday. Under the influence of this cyclone, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same area of the Bay of Bengal during the next 12 hours, tweeted the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Under the influence of the low-pressure, several districts of the state are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Thursday. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, and Sambalpur districts today. The IMD has issued an orange warning for these districts.

Heavy rainfall is also very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput, the Meteorological Centre forecasted. A yellow warning has been issued for these districts.

Moreover, a yellow warning has been issued for 12 Odisha districts for heavy rainfall on Friday. These districts include Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Rayagada, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Bargarh, and Jharsuguda.
