Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestward and has become a well-marked low-pressure system, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with height. The IMD predicts that the system is likely to continue moving west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh within the next 24 hours.
In the subsequent two days, the system is expected to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal, North Odisha, Jharkhand, and adjoining north Chhattisgarh. The IMD’s forecast suggests that the region may experience significant weather changes in the coming days.
