Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Malkangiri and Koraput today. Heavy rains are expected in several parts of Odisha from tomorrow as a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the Northwest and adjoining West-Central Bay of Bengal on Monday.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is very likely in several districts of Odisha on August 18 and 19.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea along and off the South Odisha coast, the West-Central Bay, and the Northwest Bay of Bengal between August 18 and 20.
