Bhubaneswar: A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal around August 19 under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over south Myanmar and neighbourhood, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.
Under influence of anticipated low pressure area, squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph is very likely over north adjoining west central Bay of Bengal during August 19 to 20 and along & off Odisha coast on August 20, the IMD added.
In the next 24 hours, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack.
Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh on August 18.
On August 19, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, and Jajpur.
Besides, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.
On August 20, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi.
Besides, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, and Keonjhar.
The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into north adjoining west central Bay of Bengal during August 19 to 20 and along & off Odisha coast on August 20.
