Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea around the evening of September 19, which may intensify gradually and move west-northwestwards towards the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts over the next three to four days, according to the latest weather update.

The India Meteorological Department said an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Thailand, which persisted at 05:30 am on September 18, 2026 and extended up to middle-tropospheric levels, is very likely to emerge over the north Andaman Sea around the evening of September 18. Under its influence, the low pressure area is expected to develop over the same region the following evening.

Meteorological authorities are closely monitoring the evolving system and will issue further updates as required.
