Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is expected to develop within the next 12 hours due to an active cyclonic circulation over the east-central Arabian Sea, adjacent to the north Karnataka-Goa coast.
This low-pressure area is likely to move northward and intensify further, potentially transforming into a depression within the next 36 hours.
This has been revealed by weather scientist Umasankar Das. Taking to his X handle, he wrote: “A low-pressure area is likely to form over the same area during the next 12 hours due to the influence of an active cyclonic circulation over the central Arabian Sea and north Karnataka-Goa coasts.”
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Warning for 13 districts, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri, where thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and wind speeds of 30–40 kmph are expected.
