Malkangiri: A low-pressure system has brought incessant rain to southern Odisha, severely disrupting road connectivity in Malkangiri district, in particular.
According to reports, Malkangiri district has been worst hit, with the MV-96 bridge on National Highway-326 submerged under 3-4 feet of water on Friday.
The submergence of the bridge has cut off transport between Malkangiri, Motu, and Jeypore, causing significant disruptions to daily life.
Moreover, the submergence of the MV-96 bridge on National Highway-326 has brought traffic to a standstill, with numerous vehicles, including passenger buses and trucks carrying essential goods, stranded since early morning. The affected vehicles are carrying a range of goods, including food supplies, fuel, and other necessities, leaving commuters and residents in a difficult situation.
As NH-326 is a vital route connecting Odisha to neighbouring states, the blockage has also impacted interstate traffic to Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, the district administration is working to restore connectivity as soon as possible. Until then, residents and travellers are advised to exercise caution and plan their journeys accordingly.
