Nabarangpur: A man engaged in road construction under the Bharatmala project near Bikramapur Bhatra village in the district was killed in a bear attack on Saturday morning.
He was identified Brijesh Kumar of Madhya Pradesh. He was working in the morning on the road when a bear suddenly attacked him
He tried to escape from the clutches of the animal but failed. The bear mauled him to death on the spot.
Locals also tried to save him but failed. They informed the police and forest department officials who reached the spot only to recover the mutilated body.
Meanwhile, the bear fled the spot. Forest department officials launched an operation to capture the bear.
