Bhubaneswar: New revelations in the Bengaluru murder case have raised questions about the victim’s character after the accused, Mukthiranjan Roy’s brother levelled serious allegations against the victim Mahalaxmi. He claimed Mahalaxmi was involved in torturing and extorting his brother.
Talking to mediapersons, Roy’s brother Shakti Ranjan accused the victim of blackmailing his brother and demanding money. She reportedly had taken a gold necklace, three rings and a costly mobile phone because of which he had been mentally unstable for the past two and half years and he had stopped coming to the village. Due to Mahalaxmi’s demands, he was not able to send money to his home.”
Shakti, the brother of accused Mukthiranjan Roy, disclosed that his brother had confessed to the crime after seeking refuge with him. “My brother came to me after committing the gruesome crime and stayed for three days in Berhampur. He was overcome with guilt and revealed the truth.”
“Before committing suicide by hanging himself, Mukti told everything to his mother”, said Bhadrak Superintendent of Police.
Shakti, a B.Tech student in Berhampur, was allegedly subjected to third-degree torture by Karnataka police to extract information about his brother’s actions and interactions. He was subsequently moved from Berhampur to various locations, including Balasore, Soro, and Bhadrak, and finally released in Bhubaneswar.
During the police investigation, police came to know that the accused Mukthiranjan was Mahalaxmi’s team leader at a mall. He smothered her to death, dragged her body to the bathroom and chopped her into 59 pieces. Mukti stuffed the body parts into the fridge and cleaned the bathroom with acid to erase the evidence.
