Mahanadi Flood Waters Submerge Hundreds Of Acres Of Farmland In Cuttack Dist

Cuttack: With a peak flood of 9.18 lakh cusecs flowing at Delta Head Mundali in Mahanadi river around 4.00 PM today following incessant rainfall upstream three blocks of Athgarh, Tigiria and Banki have been badly affected.

As flood water entered different distributaries of the Mahanadi river system following breaches in embankments hundreds of acres of farmland have been submerged in these blocks. Several roads in these areas remained submerged.

Vegetable crops grown by the farmers in these areas have been badly damaged.

Flood water was flowing 3 feet above the old Cuttack-Sambalpur road at Ghantikhal, 4 feet high at Champapur-Dahiasara and 6 feet over the Huluhula bridge of Banki.
