Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited divine wedding of Mahaprabhu Lingaraj is set to take place on May 30, according to an official announcement made by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Bhubaneswar Rudra Mohanty, on Friday.
Speaking to the media, Mohanty stated that the ceremony will be conducted as per the instructions of temple astrologers.
“The date was finalized after resolving a difference of opinion regarding the timing of the event. The almanac was consulted thoroughly and May 30 was confirmed as the most auspicious day for the wedding,” he said.
Following the completion of the wedding rituals, Lord Lingaraj is expected to return to the Lingaraj Temple on the night of May 31.
As per the original Khadiratna Panji (traditional Hindu almanac), temple astrologers had earlier designated May 30 as the auspicious date for the ceremony. Based on this, the temple administration and associated servitors unanimously agreed to proceed with the rituals as scheduled.
On the night of May 30, Lord Lingaraj will be taken out in a grand ceremonial procession to the Kedar Gauri Temple, where the divine wedding with Goddess Gauri will be solemnized. The Lord will then return to the Lingaraj Temple the following night, marking the conclusion of the sacred event.
