Nuapada: Komna police on Wednesday busted a gambling racket in Jethupali village under Nuapada district and arrested 23 persons involved in the activity.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Komna police station conducted a raid at a gambling den in Jethupali.
During the operation, police seized cash amounting to Rs 48,225, sixteen mobile phones, twelve vehicles, and detained twenty-three persons, all hailing from the same village.
A case has been registered in this connection at Komna police station under PS Case No. 96, dated 22.04.2025, under Sections 112(2) and 111(4) of the BNS, read with Section 3 of the Odisha Prevention of Gambling (OPG) Act.
Speaking to the media, Nuapada Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra said that gambling activities have been active in various parts of the district, posing a serious threat to youth.
He emphasized that the police are taking extensive measures to curb gambling and are committed to eradicating such activities from the region.
