Bhubaneswar: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Ashok Kumar Panda, currently serving as Director (Finance) at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), for appointment as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the state-owned steel giant.
Panda was selected from a pool of 10 candidates who were shortlisted and interviewed for the top position at SAIL, India’s largest public-sector steel-making company.
The vacancy for the CMD post will arise following the completion of the tenure of incumbent Amarendu Prakash on April 2, 2026. Prakash has been serving as Chairman of SAIL since May 31, 2023.
The PESB recommendation will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval.
