Bhubaneswar: The Water Resources Department has issued a warning of rising water levels in various rivers due to heavy rainfall. Low-lying areas may experience waterlogging, Water Resources Department’s Chief Engineer Chandrashekhar Padhi said.

Over 50 mm of rainfall has been recorded in 43 blocks of 15 districts since yesterday. Hirakud dam is releasing water through 20 gates, with more gates to be opened if needed.

Heavy rainfall is expected in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Sundargarh. Fishermen are advised to stay ashore till July 28 due to turbulent sea conditions. District Collectors have been alerted to take necessary precautions.

The SRC has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along the North Odisha coast from July 25 to 28.

The district administrations have been asked to take necessary precautions and be ready to respond to any emergency that may arise. Additionally, the SRC has instructed the district collectors to keep the administrative machinery on high alert and report any untoward situation to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) immediately.
