Malkangiri: A team of forest personnel comprising Mathili Range field staff and the Rapid Response Team (RRT) of Malkangiri Division came to the rescue of two sloth bears – a mother and her cub – trapped in a snare in Burudiguda Reserve Land.
The rescue effort was triggered when the field staff, during routine foot patrolling, spotted the bears entangled in the snare, apparently set for illegal animal trapping. The team promptly reached the location and worked to free the bears from the snare.
Thanks to the timely intervention, both the mother and cub managed to break free from the snare and escape safely into the nearby forest. To ensure their continued safety and prevent any potential human-animal conflict, the team has been deployed at the site to monitor the movement of the bears.
The rescue operation highlights the dedication and expertise of the Mathili Range field staff and RRT in protecting wildlife and preserving the natural habitat of these magnificent creatures.
