Malkangiri: Malkangiri police on Friday detected an explosive dump in the erstwhile cut-off area under Jodambo police limits near Andhra – Odisha border.
The search operation was carried out by SOG, DVF and district police in an area between Mariveda and Nadmenjeri villages under Jodambo police limits.
The items seized were to be used by the Maoists for making explosives planned for use against civilians and security forces, the police said.
Four tiffin IEDs, 20 web belts, whistles and other incriminating items were seized. “This is a jolt to the LWEs who was planning to use these items for explosions. In the wake of the recovery, a large scale search operation is on,” the police said.
