Malkangiri: A shocking case of matricide was reported from Malkangiri district, where a 20-year-old man allegedly killed his mother following a dispute over her frequent drinking.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Badaguda village under Mathili police limits. The deceased, identified as Dane Bhoomia, was known to regularly consume alcohol and often returned home intoxicated, leading to frequent quarrels with her son, Matisingh Bhoomia.
According to police sources, a heated argument broke out between the two on the day of the incident after Dane again came home drunk. In a fit of rage, Matisingh allegedly attacked his mother with a bamboo stick. She succumbed to her injuries at the spot.
Villagers informed the police, following which a team reached the location and detained the accused for questioning. An investigation into the circumstances leading to the killing has been initiated.
