Sundargarh: In a shocking incident, a man was arrested on Friday night for allegedly beating his uncle to death at Kirei village under Sadar police limits in Sundargarh district.
The deceased has been identified as Sachindra Nayak, while the accused is his nephew, Bisal Nayak.
According to police, Bisal allegedly attacked his uncle with a bamboo stick following a family dispute, resulting in Sachindra’s death on the spot.
“The incident took place between 10 pm and 11 pm on Friday. On receiving information, the Additional SP and our Sadar police team reached the spot. Acting on the SP’s direction, a special team was formed, and the accused was apprehended. A case (No 359) has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sadar police station,” said Sundargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirmal Mohapatra while speaking to the media on Saturday.
He added that a scientific team has visited the crime scene to collect evidence. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused repeatedly struck his uncle with a bamboo stick due to a family quarrel. The accused will be produced before court on Saturday.
