Bhubaneswar: Police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly beating his wife to death at Dalposh village under Bondamunda police limits in Rourkela.
The accused, identified as Ratia Toppo (48).
According to reports, Ratia allegedly assaulted his wife, Neha Toppo (40), with a wooden stick on Saturday night after she refused to serve him rice. Locals rushed Neha to the Rourkela Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Following a complaint lodged by Bedana Oram, sarpanch of Jamsera gram panchayat, around 1.30 am on Sunday, police registered a case of domestic violence leading to murder.
The accused was arrested on Monday and the wooden stick used in the assault was seized, police said.
