Bhubaneswar: Police arrested a man for allegedly duping several youths on the pretext of providing jobs in NALCO, Damanjodi in Koraput district.The accused has been identified as Subash Muduli (25), of Kotrambo village under Dasmanthpur police station.
According to police, complainant Sunduru Sirika (30) of Sirika Colony, Koraput, lodged a report at Koraput Town PS on Tuesday alleging that Muduli, posing as an employee of NALCO, Damanjodi, lured them with job offers. He allegedly collected Rs 14,000 from Sunduru Sirika, Rs 8,000 from Landu Sirika, Rs 10,000 from Jagannath Santa, Rs 5,000 from Udaya Santa, Rs 3,000 from Rajendra Mahanandia and Rs 66,000 from Pitar Santa.
He neither provided jobs nor responded to their phone calls.During investigation, it was ascertained that Muduli had worked as a security guard at Vikash Vidyalaya in 2021. Since then, he has been alluring youths promising jobs in NALCO, Damanjodi and Tikri plant in Rayagada.
He has cheated more than 60 persons of over Rs 10 lakh, police said. A case has been registered at Koraput Town PS Case No. 247 dated 02.09.2026 under Sections 318(4)/316(2)/296/351(3) BNS. Police seized a mobile phone and an ATM card from his possession. Accused Subash Muduli was arrested today and forwarded to court.
