Bhubaneswar: A flying squad of the Excise Intelligence and Enforcement Bureau (Unit-I, Cuttack) on Friday busted an illegal drug operation and arrested one person with a significant quantity of brown sugar.
The accused, identified as Sabir Saha (31) of Satichaura Imampada under Markatnagar police limits in Cuttack, was apprehended with 158 grams of brown sugar during a raid conducted at Imampada. Officials estimate the seized narcotics to be worth around ₹15.08 lakh.
The operation was led by Sub-Inspector of Excise Balbir Garnayak, who headed the raiding team. Following his arrest, Saha was booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985, and subsequently forwarded to judicial custody.
The seizure marks another successful crackdown by the Excise Department in its intensified campaign against the illegal drug trade in the region.
